Visual Research- Mark Making in Sketchbook
This image is from my sketchbook from my last semester at College where I was given the brief of Lines and Grids. I developed this pattern from looking at the rose window on Notre Dame.
Visual Research- Drawing
This image is taken from my sketchbook from last semester where I looked at Beneath the Surface. I took Alexander Calder’s approach to portrait drawings. These line drawings then created the visual link to create samples later on in the project.
Visual Research- Sampling and Shapes
This image is from my current sketchbook in which I am looking at architect Kengo Kuma. I currently live in Dundee where construction for the V&A (designed by Kuma) has began. The pages show a few of Kuma’s designs, I have then looked at shapes and textures that have reminded me of his designs.

Personal and Contextual Awareness- Agnes Cecile (Silvia Pelissero)
Agnes Cecile is an Italian painter who is mainly self taught. I chose this image because when I first began to study art I always thought a good drawing/painting had to be a very detailed and accurate. I then learned from artists like Cecile that this is not the case and these watery, expressive pieces have influenced me to try something I otherwise would not have.
Personal and Contextual Awareness- Moving Home
This image is of Dundee’s waterfront. I decided to put this image in because I moved to Dundee for education and I feel that this decision has completely changed my life for the better. I have learned a lot about independence, responsibility and money management. I feel that by being in Dundee I have also broadened my creative horizon. Image is my own.
